The so called “Summer of migration 2015″ (Marc Speer/ Bernd Kasparek) has caused a crisis of the European border regime and has been dominating political debates in EU member states ever since. The research group „Beyond Summer15 – Transformation of European Migration Policies during the Crisis”, lead by Prof. Dr. Sonja Buckel, is approaching the dynamics of this crisis from different angles. We are investigating the legal struggles of refugees at the EU borders, mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion of labour markets and the role of trade unions in European societies.
You are kindly invited to join our kick-off event on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at University of Kassel.
Reception starts at 6pm at Arnold-Bode-Straße 2, room 0401. We are looking forward to a welcome speech by the university’s president and a dialogue with Newroz Duman (Activist, Jugendliche ohne Grenzen/ We’ll come United) about expectations regarding critical migration studies. Food (Syrisches Kebap Haus) and drinks will be provided after the event.
We, the members of the research group, are looking forward to welcoming you at our event.
